In like a lion

This morning I woke up on the first day of March from a dream that my neighbor had adopted two lions and was keeping them in his backyard. I was scared of them and afraid that they were going to jump the fence and hurt my dogs or else a person. I called the police but they refused to do anything about the situation. Weird.

So it's the beginning of my birthday month! I was hoping to plan a small trip to celebrate but guess what? Dental drama strikes again! Remember the tooth I had surgically removed in January?  Now it's time to have the empty spot filled with a porcelain bridge. They're going to attach it to the crown that the tooth behind it needs, and they have to crown one extra tooth for added strength. My out of pocket deposit for all this work will be $800....the week before my birthday. Damn it.

There goes the trip I had hoped to take! But at least I'll be able to smile comfortably again....I've been self conscious about the empty space behind my right eye tooth and have tried not to smile too big for fear of looking like a jack o lantern. Everyone says it's not noticeable but I feel like it's glaringly obvious. So at least my smile will be fixed for my birthday.

Happy March, everyone. Did it come in like a lamb or a lion for you?

  1. I adore this dande-lion, he is so cute. Is he from a children's book? I hope this dental odyssey wraps up for you with this one more expensive problem being the last this year. You will be enjoying a big smile for your birthday, the one good point.

  2. Isn't he cute? I'm not sure where I found this picture but I had downloaded it to my phone a while back. It seemed appropriate for March 1st!

I hope this is the end of this dental odyssey for me. It all started last summer with two fillings that led to two root canals and an out of pocket payment of $1000....which meant canceling the trip Gregg and I had planned for our wedding anniversary. It's been expensive and painful and it's spoiled more than one special occasion!

  3. Dentistry! Thank god for it and curse the gods for our need for it.
So far March is looking just like February here. Too warm, a bit breezy, gray clouds above.

Sorry to hear you can't go on a trip but will have to fork out the money for more dental work. But as you say, your beautiful smile will be back to 100 % in time for your birthday :-)
    Mine is in March, too.

  5. A beautiful smile and confidence in yourself is worth putting off a trip. You can take it another time and will like the pictures better.

  8. What a gorgeous prancing beast. That liony smile! And your smile is priceless. But I am sorry you've had to fork out so much, I don't know why dentistry has to be so expensive. And happy birthday month!

  13. Love the lion. If two lions such as that one were in the neighbour's garden everything would be alright.

  14. Like a lamb.
Last night I dreamed of maps - flying above them like a drone and quickly noticing the names of rivers.

  15. One of my mum's friends had a tooth missing in the same spot, and growing up I always thought it made her look like a total bad ass. To be honest I still do...

Last night I dreamed one of our clients was unhappy with the injury settlement we just got her and attacked our office with an army of Greyjoys.

I hope the dentist bill doesn't hurt your finances too much. There is a reason I have not been to a dentist in over 10 years.
